My first invitation to give a plenary talk!
This summer I was invited to give my first plenary talk at the conference Listening for aquatic mammals in Latin America (LAMLA 2016) held in Natal, Brasil. This was the first of a series of conferences with the aim of knowledge exchange and expanding collaborations between researchers of bioacoustics of aquatic mammals in Latin America.

During my presentation I talked about statistical methods for estimating cetacean abundance from passive acoustic monitoring devices including distance sampling and spatially explicit capture recapture and how researchers have applied and adapted these methods for their study species.
