Our new Trex recorders for monitoring gibbons (2023)

Our Trex recorders have 4 microphones which allows estimating the bearings to the calling animals. We use PAMGuard software for finding the calls in the recordings (either manually or with an automatic detector) and for estimating the bearings based on the time difference of arrival at the 4 microphones. Obtaining bearings to the animals is useful for localising and for estimating abundance using spatial capture-recapture methods.
